The College of New Jersey provides unique and robust opportunities for voice students. Whether a music major or non-music major, voice students have the opportunity to work with our world-class Artist-Teacher faculty and perform in choirs and musical theatre groups. Given that TCNJ Department of Music is an undergraduate-focused program, voice students have increased opportunities to perform in many different ensembles, play leadership roles and perform prominent solo parts in each ensemble, and take advantage of unique opportunities like Student Showcase Recitals. Prospective students are encouraged to experience all that our program has to offer for voice students through events such as our annual Vocal Summit , Music Major For A Day @ TCNJ, and Honors Festival programs.
Voice students have the opportunity to perform in a wide range of ensemble and solo voice opportunities. Choral ensembles include TCNJ Chorale, College Choir, and Collegium Musicum. Students with an interest in musical theatre often perform with TCNJ Lyric Theatre. Voice students regularly perform solo repertoire at the Department of Music’s weekly Tuesday Afternoon Recital Series, Student Showcase, Music Major For A Day @ TCNJ recitals, and college-wide events. TCNJ also has a number of student-run a cappella ensembles, including The Trentones, iTunes, and Treblemakers.
