Students in the TCNJ Choirs Perform with the Philadelphia Orchestra

In December 2016, student members of the TCNJ choirs performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra on their live soundtrack performance of the classic holiday movie, Home Alone 2. For three nights in December, 80 students performed vocals in front of a live audience at the Verizon Hall in Center City, Philadelphia. Guests enjoyed a screening of the movie, as the orchestra played the movie’s soundtrack.

John Leonard, chair of the Department of Music and director of choral activities at the college has been working diligently to raise the profile of TCNJ choirs. There are three choirs, ChoraleCollege Choir, and Collegium Musicum that make up The combined TCNJ Choirs.

Students expressed excitement on performing with the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Dr. Leonard and the faculty have worked together to develop classical musicians that are helping to raise the TCNJ Music Department profile. During the first half of the 2016-2017, the students have performed with critically acclaimed Soprano, Mellissa Hughes at the famed Roulette Center in Brooklyn, NY. The faculty continually seek opportunities to provide students with practical professional experience.
