The goal of the audition is to enable you to best demonstrate your musical achievement. Select pieces from the repertoire below that you feel confident with and that display your strengths and interests. We encourage you to consult with your music teacher or private lesson teacher when choosing and preparing your repertoire. Scales & Arpeggios
Major and minor scales in 2 and 3 octaves and arpeggios (at least one in 3 octaves) (candidate’s choice), played with a steady tempo and consistent rhythm.

Two contrasting movements from a Concerto, Solo Sonata or Solo Piece. Selections can be from different pieces and don’t have to be complete movements if candidate’s piece of choice is more than five minutes long. The following is a sampling of pieces you might select, but is intended only as a guide:

WA Mozart Violin Concertos K 211, K 216, K 218, K219
JS Bach – any movement from a Solo Sonata or Partita BWV 1001 – 1006

M Bruch – Violin Concerto in g minor
F Mendelssohn – Violin Concerto in e minor
H Wieniawski – Legende for Violin
The candidate will be asked to play a short piece at sight.
