The goal of the audition is to enable you to best demonstrate your musical achievement. Select pieces from the repertoire below that you feel confident with and that display your strengths and interests. We encourage you to consult with your music teacher or private lesson teacher when choosing and preparing your repertoire. We also invite you to contact Mr. Robert Gale firstname.lastname@example.org, Artist-Teacher of Trombone, for guidance in selecting repertoire and to inquire about scheduling a free sample lesson prior to your audition.
-Each audition includes demonstrations of scales, a study and a solo-
2 octave chromatic scale starting on F, ascending and descending, slurred and with steady rhythm; 2 octave major scales, F and G, ascending and descending, all notes tongued and non-staccato. All scales played with a steady tempo and consistent rhythm.
Prepare ONE study from from one of the following:
Bordogni-Rochut: Melodious Etudes
Kopprasch: 60 Selected Studies Book 1
Alary: Contest Piece, the 2021 All-State/Region audition solo
One movement from one of the following:
Guilmant: Morceau Symphonique
Simons: Atlantic Zephyrs
The candidate may be asked to play a piece at sight.
