Saxophone

Audition Information

The goal of the audition is to enable you to best demonstrate your musical achievement. Select pieces from the repertoire below that you feel confident with and that display your strengths and interests.  We encourage you to consult with your music teacher or private lesson teacher when choosing and preparing your repertoire. We also invite you to contact Ms. Kathleen Mitchell mitchell@tcnj.edu>, Artist-Teacher of Saxophone, for guidance in selecting repertoire and to inquire about scheduling a free sample lesson prior to your audition.

Scales

Prepare 4, two-octave scales in the following keys,. All scales are to be played with a steady tempo and consistent rhythm.:
B Major
F Major
E-flat Major
Chromatic Scale

Solo*

Prepare one of the following pieces
You may audition on any of the saxophones. Repertoire suggestions are listed, but are NOT limited to the following pieces:

Klosé, Ferling, 18 Exercises/Studies

Berbiguier (Marcel Mule Edition) or other comparable etudes.
