Keyboard Proficiency Exam
First-year BA in Music majors must pass the Keyboard Proficiency Exam to graduate. If a student has a background in piano and believes they can pass the proficiency without taking Keyboard Skills classes, they should take the Keyboard Proficiency Exam at the end of the fall semester of the first year. If a student needs to take Keyboard Skills I and II, which cannot be taken until after passing “Musicianship I,” they are strongly encouraged to do so in the spring semester of the first year and the fall semester of the second year, respectively, and to take the Keyboard Proficiency Exam at the end of the fall semester of the second year in preparation for the Sophomore Review.
